UPEACE-UNITAR PROGRAMMES

The University for Peace (UPEACE) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) have partnered to offer a portfolio of master programmes aimed at both entry-level and mid-career professionals, in the areas of diplomacy, development, and international law.The funds generated from their joint “Art for Peace” NFT Collection will go towards a Fellowship Programme for the UPEACE-UNITAR Masters. LDC and SIDS nationals are eligible to apply*.

M.A. Gender and Development

The M.A. in Gender and Development (hybrid) focuses on nurturing gender consciousness in development work across a variety of topics, including women’s empowerment, queering development, environment, the interplay of gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and disability.

The M.A. in Development Studies and Diplomacy (online and hybrid formats) is an interdisciplinary and holistic programme that will broaden students’ knowledge in the field of development studies, sustainability, and diplomacy.

The M.A. in International Law and Diplomacy (online and hybrid formats) is a graduate programme permitting students to specialize in the interface between international law and diplomacy.

M.A. International Law and the Settlement of Disputes

The M.A. in International Law and the Settlement of Disputes (online, onsite and hybrid formats) is a graduate programme that offers students an understanding of the role that international law and institutions play in the settlement of international and transnational disputes.

OPTIONAL FIELD TRIPS TO GENEVA AND/OR THE HAGUE

Each year, UNITAR will organize two optional 5-day field trips to Geneva (Switzerland) and The Hague (Netherlands) for the students enrolled in the joint UPEACE - UNITAR Master's Programmes and Certificates. Students can sign up for one field visit, or both (Geneva and The Hague) if they wish to do so.During this activity, students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the very heart of diplomacy and international law, visit different international organizations, and network with other diplomats, personnel of permanent missions accredited to the UN, civil servants of international organizations, and civil society representatives.
